Descending Satya Yuga — Unexplained Anomalies

As we have shown in Chapter 10, existing archeological evidence from 11,500 to 6700 BC, the span of descending Satya Yuga, can be used to support two very different views of the past — primitive hunter-gatherers, or enlightened people living lightly on the earth — that is, if all we take into account are the simple artifacts and structures that make up the bulk of the archeological record. However, there exists other anomalous physical evidence that simply does not mesh with the concept of the ignorant and primitive hunter-gatherer, but that does strongly suggest that a level of spiritual awareness and knowledge existed in the distant past for which current theory has no explanation.

Evidence from this period is scant to begin with, and the anomalous evidence we find is even more scant — but a little anomalous evidence goes a long way. At the close of the nineteenth century, physical scientists were supremely confident that they were combing out the last few tangles in the laws of electromagnetism. Once these last few knots were untangled, it was assumed, the laws of energy and its interaction with matter would be completely understood. There was however, one anomaly — the constancy of the speed of light — that was proving rather difficult to incorporate into their tidy picture of the universe.

Most scientists simply ignored the anomaly of the constancy of the speed of light; they considered it an odd but inconsequential fact, and remained confident that it would eventually be incorporated into existing Newtonian theory. The discovery in 1879 of the constancy of the speed of light lay on the shelf, so to speak, for twenty-six years, until Einstein described the special theory of relativity in 1905. In the end, the implications of the anomalous behavior of light brought about the complete unraveling of the prevailing theory. No longer could matter be seen as an immutable substance interacting with electromagnetic energy; instead the physical sciences had to accept that matter was essentially energy in another form, that matter itself was far less substantial than previously thought. The result was the ushering in a period of profound scientific discovery.

The anomalous facts we know from the ancient past could also one day turn current archeological and paleontological theories upside down. Mainstream archeology currently ignores many ancient anomalies, as physicists did the constancy of the speed of light, with equal confidence that the present-day theory will eventually explain them. But someone, perhaps archeology’s Einstein — or some new or existing discovery that becomes impossible to ignore — may well bring about the unraveling of current archeological theory.

In this chapter and upcoming ones we will explore many anomalies. One thing they all have in common — whatever their age — is that they are not easy to explain away.
